All employees incentivised through profit share scheme and equity. Very meritocratic in its promotions process - no time at level, promotion quotas, laddering etc. Hard to think of any real cons. Lots of travel and occasionally need to put in long hours, but that goes with the territory in consulting. Interesting range of projects.

There is a core group of long term Alpha people that can make it seem a bit "cult-ish" at times. The firm seems to struggle with brining in senior hires and there is a lack of diversity at the top Director team.

Fantastic company to work for, with the most outstandingly talented team of people. Expectation to work hard and take accountability early in your career, which can be seen as either an exciting opportunity or a risk. Work hard to retain Alpha's unique and fabulous culture. Within Alpha work great minds who truly understand the world of asset and wealth management.

Alpha has been able to grow fast but has been able to maintain an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit that enables people to act quickly within our global workplace. This is something I have not experienced as such at my previous position at one of the big 4 global consultants.

Work life balance is probably the main concern within consultant life and as well for Alpha. There will always be a pressure on ones flexibility and excellent project delivery. However, I notice that senior management is showing sincere interest and tries to manage such situations in the interest of the company and its people.

Make sure Alpha keeps its entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit. The people at Alpha are fantastic - smart, hard working, sociable, interesting and great fun to be around. I always felt proud to be part of such a high calibre and professional team. There is a strong 'work hard, play hard' culture and Alpha looks after its people well, recognising dedication and loyalty.

I never felt like a cog in a big machine, with progression based entirely on merit. I joined the company seeking faster career development than I was likely to find at a 'Big 4' competitor, and was not disappointed.

They are very supportive of you taking on stretch roles and undertaking training, further study and secondments. Given that Alpha specialises in asset and wealth management, you do need to have a sustained interest in this area of financial services, but if you like the idea of developing an expertise as opposed to being a generalist consultant, it's difficult to imagine a more stimulating and rewarding environment than Alpha.

Everyone is expected to work very hard, which often means long hours and travel away from home but this is the case with any role in management consulting. Sometimes it can feel as though you've been thrown in the deep end when you start a client engagement, because both Alpha and the clients expect a lot of you, but I felt pretty well supported in getting up the learning curve. Essentially, it's not the place for people who want to take it easy!

We the consulting team are the business and Alpha does not underestimate this. We have many initiatives ongoing to continually challenge ourselves and to ensure Alpha remain a great employer for both existing and new staff. Despite being situated across multiple client sites around the globe we have built a virtual community through technology, internal responsibilities and an incredible social calendar.

My colleagues across the firm are fantastic, incredibly talented and great fun. I genuinely enjoy spending time with them in and outside of work.

The work is never boring. Delivering client projects successfully is a challenge and I'm always learning, with the next project bringing something new in either responsibility or content. Even as an analyst I had great exposure to senior stakeholders at our client sites, working with C-suite quickly became the norm.

We are also empowered to help Alpha grow as a business outside of client life. In addition to benefiting from the generous social budget, we are very well rewarded through a fair, individually-considered, promotion process, plus excellent salary, bonus, share scheme, and other benefits like a phone and commuting allowance. As with all consulting companies, work-life balance can be difficult. I sometimes have to work away from my home office, and occasionally at very short notice.

Personal circumstances are of course taken into consideration and any difficult client conversations are supported by senior management as required. Additionally, hours can be long, especially close to deadlines, and I also sometimes work at weekends. We do get downtime between projects, however, I'm usually bored within a couple of days and eager for the next challenge. There are also sabbatical and secondment schemes which bring a different way to improve work-life balance.

Don't stop challenging yourselves in how to be the best company to work for. Continue to keep all employees involved in the business from both a day to day and in the longer term business strategy.

Sustain the original Alpha's values that have made the company so successful across all existing and new regions. Working in a fast growing company, where all and any input is taken on board and makes a difference.

A respected member of the team no matter what your level is. Working with people who are incredibly sociable and friendly.
